Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23rd January, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Skillr ("Skillr", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information when you access or use the Skillr platform, including its website, applications, APIs, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

This policy is written to meet global data protection expectations and the requirements of Google OAuth and Google API Services User Data Policy.

1

Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

We may collect:

  • Name, email address, and profile details
  • Account credentials (hashed and secured)
  • Mentor–learner communications sent through the platform
  • Feedback, support requests, and survey responses

1.2 Information Collected via Integrations (Google OAuth)

Skillr offers Google account integration only for mentors contracted by Skillr to enable email communication with learners directly within the platform.

If a mentor chooses to connect their Google account (e.g., Gmail):

  • We access only the scopes necessary to enable sending, receiving, and displaying emails inside Skillr
  • This access may include: Email metadata (such as sender, recipient, subject, timestamps) and Email message content solely for the purpose of mentor–learner communication within Skillr

Skillr does not:

  • ✗ Access or connect learner or intern Gmail accounts
  • ✗ Use Gmail data for advertising, marketing, or profiling
  • ✗ Read or process emails outside the Skillr communication context
  • ✗ Access Google Contacts or unrelated inbox data

Access is limited to the mentor's connected account and is used strictly to provide the requested in-platform email functionality.

2

How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide and operate the Service
  • Enable mentor–learner communication
  • Authenticate users and secure accounts
  • Improve platform performance and user experience
  • Respond to inquiries and provide support

We do not use personal data for advertising or profiling across third-party services.

3

Google API Services User Data Compliance

Skillr's use of information obtained from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically:

  • Google user data is used only to provide user-facing features explicitly requested by the user
  • Google user data is not used for advertising, marketing, or behavioral profiling
  • Google user data is not transferred to third parties except as necessary to operate the Service or comply with law

We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless:

  • • Explicitly requested by the user for support, or
  • • Required for security, legal, or abuse prevention purposes
4

Data Storage and Retention

  • Personal data is stored on secure servers with access controls
  • Gmail-related data is retained only as long as required to provide messaging functionality
  • Users may disconnect Google integrations at any time, after which access tokens are revoked
  • When data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized

We do not sell personal data.

We may share data only with:

  • Trusted service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics) under strict confidentiality agreements

Users may:

  • Access and update profile information
  • Disconnect third-party integrations (including Google) at any time

Security Measures

We implement industry-standard safeguards, including:

  • Encryption in transit and at rest where applicable
  • Role-based access controls
  • Regular security reviews and monitoring

No system is perfectly secure, but we actively work to protect user data.

Skillr is not intended for users under 18.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If such data is discovered, it will be deleted promptly.
